I ran 4 times this week.
Sun: 8.7 miles, 73:00, 8:24 pace, 1.5 Seneca-Titus-St Paul-Zoo-2 Pond-Collingwood-Seneca run, 36F, windy, 3 stops, no pain. An easy long run. What ice was left on the sidewalks of Saint Paul was very slippery.
I saw a piece from Dateline about Dr. Tom White, a runner who had a motorcycle accident in his 20s which crushed one of his legs. He recuperated and taught himself to run again. His leg was getting worse so had his leg amputated so he could continue running and living his life on his own terms with a running prosthetic. It was an article in Runnersworld a couple of months ago. Runnersworld link here, Dateline link here. Truly inspirational. It makes my running so ordinary.
Mon: 3.1 miles, 24:18, 7:50 pace, Seneca-Titus-St Paul-Ridge run, 30F, dusk, calm, 2 stops, no pain. I really wish that all drivers would actually f***ing stop and look right before turning right onto Saint Paul. I have to run on the sidewalk there because Saint Paul is 4 lanes with no shoulder. Some do and actually wait for me and some don't. How can you tell? Maybe I should just run up and down Seneca Ave with its wide shoulders. It's roughly a mile from Ridge to Titus.
Tue: 6.5 miles, 56:51, 8:45 pace, FF Cobbs Hill run, 3.5 loops, 48F, calm, 4 stops, no pain. It was warm. After the fourth stop on just the second loop I took off my jacket ... I was hot. I didn't have to stop the rest of the way. I think my stopping problem of late has been because I was overheated ... even when it was really cold. Just an idea.
Wed, Thu, Fri: I took a bit of a break from running. I just kicked back and had a bit of fun.
Sat: 4 miles, 31:48, 7:57 pace, Seneca-Titus-St Paul-Ridge run plus a bit, 28F, calm, no stops, no pain. Just a nice run to clear my head and to get back on the horse after not running for three days.
Keeping active, Doug
