I ran 4 times this week, 24 miles
Sun: The Lakers won Game 2 of the NBA Finals versus the Magic by 4 in OT. The Magic had their chance to win it at the end of regulation on an alley-oop but it didn't drop.
Mon: 5.5 miles-ish, Seneca-Titus-St Paul-Zoo-Pond-St Paul-Ridge run, no stops, no pain. I got hit with either a water balloon or a paintball on Seneca Ave by some young punk. It hit me in the shorts on the right hip. Whack! I did turn and give the speeding car the double bird. I had some sort of yellow dye on my left leg when I stopped. A sweet run regardless!
Tue: 6.8 miles, 58:50, 8:39 pace, FF Cobb's Hill run, 3.5 Y's, 65F, humid, a bit of wind (thank goodness), multiple stops for water, no pain. I did not hydrate enough before this run. Thus I had no endurance. I felt kind of lightheaded when I got back, had to sit down for a while. Lesson learned ... will it sink in?
The Lakers lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals by 4 versus the Magic. The Magic needed to shot the lights out (75% in the first half, 62% for the game), I don't think that will happen again. Phil Jackson will make defensive adjustments.
Thu: 8.6 miles, 72:42, 8:27 pace, Seneca-Titus-St Paul-Zoo Trail-St Paul-Ridge, 65F, cloudy, calm, humid, 2 stops, no pain. A sweet trail run instead of doing the city streets of the Social run.
The Lakers won Game 4 of the NBA Finals by 8 in OT versus the Magic by go up 3-1. The Magic more than had their chances: up by 12 at half, down by 4 after the Lakers paste them 30-14 in the 3rd, up by 5 with 90 sec, up by 3 with 11 sec with a potential two free throws by Dwight "Superman" Howard to ice the game ... but clang, clang, then a dagger 3 by Derek Fisher to tie the game and force OT. Then another dagger 3 by Fisher to pull to a 3 point lead with 30 sec in OT. Fisher has 40 3's in the NBA Finals, 3rd in NBA history ... so he has been on the big stage before. Let's not even mention the fact that the Lakers had no free throws in the 4th or how many the Magic missed in the 4th (7 out of 17) ... yes, the Lakers drove to the basket but didn't get any calls.
Fri: Decided to go solo to the Regal Culver Ridge Cinema 16 solo after work (matinee price) to see Star Trek. It was very impressive.
Sat: 3.1 miles, 22:04, 7:10 pace, Newark Run for the Red 5K, 65F, sunny, calm, no stops, no pain, kicked some butt on a tough 5K course. Saw the kids that were home and went out to Lyons to see my father at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
Keeping active, Doug
