Sunday, 7/21/2013 to Saturday, 7/27/2013

I ran 3 times this week, 22.8 miles.
I biked twice this week, 17.87 miles.

Sunday, 7/21/2013: Volunteer duty

I woke around 6 AM to get ready to head out to Hamlin State Park. I let Christine sleep. I had signed up for volunteer duty on Day 2 of the Shoreline Multisport Festival. Today there was a Tri and Du.

The onshore breeze really kicked up the waves.
When I got out there I found that the swim portion of the Tri had been cancelled due to rough water. So everyone was going to do the Du. The Du was set up as a 2 mile run, 15 mile bike and 4 mile run.

It had turned a bit cooler during the night. It was 66F with a steady 15 to 20 mph breeze. So ... shorts and a yellow Fleet Feet volunteer shirt left me a bit underdressed.  I managed. I got my flag and headed out to my station on the bike course on the corner of Redman and Moscow. This turn is about 3 miles from the end of the bike course. When I got there I found that the Hamlin DPW had chip sealed Redman Rd which made its surface rough with fine stone. Soon lots of bicycles were headed my way. I shouted encouragement while also yelling for the rider to be careful on the turn since they were transitioning from "Ehh" to "Good" road. It seemed that everyone was happy to get off the fine stones on Redman and onto Moscow Rd. A Sheriff and a NY State Trooper on his motorcycle also helped hold up traffic from time to time.

I headed back to Hamlin State Park and hung around for a bit. I talked with a Park policemen for a bit while I clapped encourgement to runners exiting on their second 2 mile run loop. I looked inside his patrol car. He had 3 radios, a laptop and radar gun all within reach. He said that sometimes he had trouble figuring out who was talking to him.

The Du results for 72 athletes are here and "Tri" results for 151 athletes are here. One bicyclist took a spill and suffered a broken clavicle along with some major road rash.

I stopped by Walmart on the way home and gave my Trek FX 7.2 bicycle some accessories. Let's see ... a bike lock, a small bag for beneath the seat, a phone holder, a pair of bicycle gloves and a rear view mirror. I also bought a rear view mirrow for Christine's bicycle. Now to actually take them out of the bag and put them on their respective bicycles.

Monday, 7/22/2013: David's birthday

Christine and I headed down to the Finger Lakes Racetrack to meet up my youngest son, David, who was celebrating his 24th birthday. It was BBQ night at the buffet restaurant and we all ate our fill.

A "selfie" of David, Christine and I
I resolved to run on Tuesday. My joints were still sore from the 0 SPF Trail Half Marathon on Saturday.

Tuesday, 7/23/2013: 6.2 mile run, 51:21, 8:17 pace, 79F, 65% RH, overcast, a bit breezy, 1 stop, no pain.

Garmin Connect Activity for 10K around the streets of Irondequoit

Christine greeted me at the door and I couldn't get away for a while. Later I did manage to slip out for a run on my usual 10K route. I was stiff for the first mile. Then I settled in and just managed to enjoy the run. I stopped once for hydration. I was carrying a water bottle after all so I used it. All in all, not a bad run. Christine cooked up a nice dinner of lamb, sweet potato and lima beans ... yum! It was much appreciated.

Wednesday, 7/24/2013: Rest day ... nothing to see.

Thursday, 7/25/2013: 6.6 mile run, 55:55, 8:24 pace, 72F, 38% RH, sunny, calm

Garmin Connect Activity for 6.6 miles around the streets of Rochester

I decided to do the Fleet Feet's Pub run down at the Strathallan at 6 PM. I met up with everyone and headed out near the lead with some of the Relentless Forward Progress crew. I pushed my pace just before Culver and then ran with the lead runner. We were on sidewalk mostly and had a few close calls with cars exiting parking lots but no mishaps. I took it nice and easy. The "5ish" route was only 4.05 miles so I continued on and took a loop down Culver and back on University to get 6.6 miles. Just a nice night to run!

Friday, 7/26/2013: 2.82 mile bike, 15:57, 10.9 mph, 75F, 44% RH, sunny, calm

Garmin Connect Activity for Shakedown Ride
Mapmyride Activity for Shakedown Ride

I installed all the stuff that I had bought for my Trek FX 7.2 bicycle. Better instructions would have helped but I managed to install a Zefal Smart Phone Bike Mount, Zefal Quick-Draw Wedge Seat Pack, Urbie Urban Bar End Mirrowr, and OnGuard Coil Cable Lock. I did have to adjust where my front light, front bell and rear light were positioned. Then I put on my new Bell Ramble 550 Padded Cycling Gloves and went for a short ride along with my iPhone 5 to make sure everything held together. The front bell died on the shakedown ride. It was just an old bell but still. So I took the new bell off of Christine's bicycle and installed it on mine.

I signed up for the Rochester Full marathon on 9/22 before the rates went up any further. I guess I have to start training!

My darling Christine neglected to make anything for supper so I walked solo over to Salvatore's for a shaved steak sub and beer. Enough said about that.

Saturday, 7/27/2013:
10.0 mile run in the late morning, 1:27:29, 8:40 pace, 75F, 69% RH, sunny, a nice breeze
15.05 mile bike in the late afternoon, 1:09:54, 13.1 mph, 75F, 65% RH, overcast, a light sprinkle or rain, calm

Garmin Connect Activity for Up to the lake and back

I should have gotten out earlier but I did manage to get out just after 9:30 AM for a long run. I had my Camelbak and a couple of gels. The run down to the lake went well, 5.7 miles in 47 minutes, 8:15 pace. I dipped my toes in Lake Ontario and headed back from the lake. Well ... I had no energy and had a gel at mile 7. I started a run/walk since my feet started to hurt. My right Achilles started to hurt at mile 9 so I held on until I got to mile 10 to just stop and limp home. What a first long run ... ouch! Lessons learned: start earlier, have a gel before I start and at the turn, wear my IT band straps and wear better socks. Maybe next time will be better.

Later in the afternoon, Christine and I kissed and made up. We got rid of the tension between us. We are two different people .. both set in their ways. We have things that we are good, things that we struggle with and things that we are not so good at ... it's all good. Afterward I got back out for a bike ride.

Garmin Connect Activity for Both banks of the Genesee River
Mapmyride Activity for Rode 15.43 miles on 7/27/13

During the ride I started to fell a few drops, then a light sprinkle, then a light rain started to fall. I was a bit more careful on the turns but had no mishaps. By the time I ended the ride the rain had stopped. A nice ride even in the light rain.

I checked out the Karknocker 5K results, overall link here and age group results here. I did see that I would have done well in the M55-59 age group (1st was 23:06) if I had had an extra $25 and dropped into this race. The Karknocker 5K with its $3500(!!) in prize money is an interesting race with a nice and flat course. I ran a 20:18 there last year. This year I would be happy breaking 21 minutes. I only knew that it was held because someone had said something about it during the week. It was not listed in the GRTC calendar, the Rochester Running Page or the Yellow Jacket Racing calendar. The only online mention I could find is the East Rochester webpage (easy to miss) and the pcr-timing.com webpage (who do the timing). It would be kind of tough to find out this race if you didn't already know about it.

I will be rearranging my results on this blog. I think I will rearrange them into M50-54 PRs and current year PRs. There are different ways of arranging things on Blogger.

Sunday, 7/14/2013 to Saturday, 7/20/2013 - Boilermaker 15K & O SPF Trail Half Marathon

I ran 4 times this week, 29.57 miles.
I biked once this week, 12.44 miles.

Sunday, 7/14/2013: Boilermaker 15K, 9.42 miles, 1:18:30, 8:20 pace, 73F, 89% RH, sunny, calm

Alas ... I didn't get any sleep on Saturday night. Christine and I got to bed around 11 PM. It was 84F in our bedroom. Once she started to snore at 12:45 AM I got up and went to the couch. I set my phone as an alarm for 3 AM but I worried that I wouldn't hear it if I fell asleep. So ... I turned on the TV and stayed up. I woke Christine up at 3AM and we got ready. We left the apartment at 4:03 AM and soon made it down the Park n Ride at the 31F exit of I-490. We were on bus 2 of the 2 buses that the GRTC organized. Wilt Alston, the president of the GRTC, checked all of us in and off we went around 4:30AM. We arrived in Utica around 7:15 AM. The Boilermaker is a point-to-point race so Christine stayed with the bus while everyone disembarked close to the start. I got my bib and soon was lost in a sea of the 14000 runners who signed up for this race. I eventually found that my fuchsia bib had its own corral which was pretty close to the start. Speed does have its advantages, though my start corral didn't have anywhere to run to warm up. Just before the race, they dropped the rope holding us back from two other corrals in front so we moved up even farther.

Looking forward .. the flag is the start.
Some random pics that I gleaned from the Utica newspaper ...

Soon the race started. First we watched others run ahead of us, then we walked, then we trotted, then we half ran and then we ran. I crossed the start line about 30 seconds after the official start. I tried to start out slow but ... as usual, I didn't. Miles 1 and 2 were at 7:54 and 7:52 pace. The oppressive heat and humidity plus lack of sleep got to me very early. I started doing a run/walk at about mile 2.5 and up the hill into the golf course, miles 3 and 4 were 8:18 and 9:03. I especially enjoyed the mile of downhill from the golf course at mile 5, 7:06 pace! I fell back into a run/walk, mile 6 was 8:21 pace as I took a gel at mile 6. I was able to gut out the rest of the race because of this. I just put my head down and endured. Miles 7, 8 and 9 were 9:55, 8:29 and 8:24 pace. The spectator support during the latter half of the race was very nice as were the 19 water stops on a hot day. I thought before the race that 19 was excessive ... not after the race! People were calling out, "Go Fleet Feet" and "You can do it, Fleet Feet" when I took my walking breaks which helped me pick myself back up to what pace I could muster.

A sweaty runner!
Meanwhile way, way up in front ... Kiper and Kiprotich jockeyed for the lead
I finished many minutes later in 1:18:07
After mile 9 I knew that the finish was a downhill which was nice, 7:32 pace over the last 0.3 mile. The finish had us split to either go right or left. There was a walk of at least a tenth of a mile before I found any water, then I had a couple of fruit cups where tasted heavenly. Soon I found the post race party and beer ... which tasted especially nice on a hot day! Now that I think back, I had no trouble with either my right Achilles or my right rib ... nice!

After I finished ...
Some of the many finishers ....
Christine's phone had died so it was tough finding her in the crowd which got worse for a couple of hours before it dissipated. But I did eventually meet up with her and our bus at the back end of the Family Greeting Area. Silly me ... I was looking in the front end.

All told it was a nice first Boilermaker. This was my first "big" race with thousands and thousands of my closest runner friends. Some Utica Observer Daily links: Sports: Boilermaker, Increased security, humid heat highlight 36th annual Boilermaker, The links may or may not open since the UOD may want to sign you up for their digital newspaper.

Officially, I did OK. Not my fastest 15K but it was what my body allowed me to do on this hot and humid day. I finished in 1:18:07, 8:23 pace, link here. I was 1979th out of 11371 runners and was 74th out of 449 in my M55-59 age group. I was not happy about the run/walk parts. I was not prepared as well as I could have been. I should have had a few more gels. But I did it!

Additional sad news: a female cyclist was in guarded condition after a bike accident after today's Musselman in Geneva, link here.

Monday, 7/15/2013: 12.44 miles, 53:153, 13.3 mph, 84F, 62% RH, sunny, calm, no stops, no pain.

A techie blog note: I finally found how to get all my links that I deposit all over my blog to automatically open in their own tab, link here. I Googled it and found it in seconds, of course. It took a bit of head scratching to figure out how to add it to my Blogger template but it was easily done once I did.

Garmin Connect Activity for 12.44 mile bike around the streets of Webster

My darling Christine had her therapist appointment out in Webster so I loaded my Trek FX 7.2 on the car. I biked out down Phillips Rd out to Lake Ave, back on Salt Rd and then around the Xerox complex for just under a hour while she had her appointment. I definitely didn't want to run today since my thighs were a bit tight from yesterday's Boilermaker 15K.

Tuesday, 7/16/2013: 6.2 miles, 53:20, 8:36 pace, 90F, 46% RH, sunny, calm.

Garmin Connect Activity for HHH 10K around the streets of Irondequoit

Yes, it's hot, hazy and humid. It's July. Yes, I could have stayed inside and let the couch win. But ... I didn't. I dallied a bit but I got out there for a nice and easy run on my usual 10K route. I had to stop about halfway to get some grit out of my right shoe. But I stopped I started sweating. It was tough getting back to running. As soon as I stopped back at the apartment I started to sweat. A couple glasses of cold water, a fan and a cold shower cooled me down. My darling Christine cooked up her delicious BLTs ... yum!

Our apartment has a wall air-conditioner in the living room which we don't run because it is mostly ineffective unless we run it 24/7. It doesn't reach the bedroom plus we don't want huge RG&E bills. So ... our bedroom was 86F last night. Just a bit uncomfortable ... enough so that we don't even want to touch each other.

Wednesday, 7/17/2013 - Friday, 7/19/2013: Life, heat and humidity get in the way.

Wednesday was a rest day, Thursday was a "shoulda" night, Friday was "vollie" night for packet picket at Fleet Feet Ridgeway for the Shoreline Multisport Festival this weekend and packet pickup out at The North Face in Victor for the 0 SPF Trail Half Marathon on Saturday. I am not running the Shoreline Half Marathon on Saturday but will be running the 0 SPF out in Victor instead. Shoreline Half .. been there, done that twice. I needed a change of pace plus I have never run the Crescent Trail.

Saturday, 7/20/2013: 2 runs of 0.55 and 13.4 miles, 73F, 73% RH, overcast, a bit of a breeze if you could find it.

The hot weather broke over night but not the humidity. I heard the rain and dreamt of running a trail race in the race. I woke up around 6AM. Soon my darling Christine and I were down opposite The North Face for the first 0 SPF Trail Half Marathon.

Garmin Connect Activity for Warmup before the 0 SPF Trail Half Marathon
I got out for a little warmup run to get my legs warmed up.

The race started promptly at 8:04AM. The course was your basic out and back. It all a bit of blur but here is what I remember. The start was uphill and warmed us up quickly. There was a lot of ups and downs as the trail wound across some roads, between houses, alongside businesses, into the woods for lots of singletrack and open fields, across wooden bridges along with the usual amount of mud, dirt, roots and rocks. As I ran towards the turnaround it seemed that there was a lot of down and just knew that there would be a lot of up on the way back. I knew I was near the turnaround when I saw runners coming back toward me. I had a slice of watermelon at the turnaround. By now I was kind of tired. But I walked what ups I had to and ran the flats and downs. The last hill named Spark Hill because of the high voltage tension wire on it was never ending. But eventually I did get to the finish line after 13.4 miles and 1597 feet of climb overall. I managed not to fall but I did catch myself once.

Within 1 mile of the start

Gustavo shouted "Hey, Doug" and snapped this picture

Walking up Spark Hill
Turn right and it's all downhill from there to the finish!
The finish line in sight!
I finished in 2:46:16, 47th out of 120, link here. I was 4th out of 9 in my M50-59 age group. I was spent when I got done. I had the usual post-race food: a couple slices of pizza, a banana and some pretzels. Christine moved up the car so I could change into a well needed dry shirt. It was cooler but still humid so I was drenched with sweat. It started to pour during the awards so we all huddled underneath the tents which was kind of comical.

Meanwhile out at Hamlin State Park the Shoreline Half Marathon and 5K (day 1 of the Shoreline Multisport Festival) were held at the same time. A downed tree from the storms last night caused the re-route of both races.

A huge tree down
Some of the trees down in Hamlin State Park
I assumed that the same cooler but still humid weather was out in Hamlin. 434 runners completed the Shoreline Half, line here. 200 runners completed the Shoreline 5K, link here.

Later, Christine and I just lazed around. We battled a sudden infestation of flies with a fly strip from Walgreens which worked on about half of them. We don't know how they got in all of a sudden. They stay by the open screen window in the dining area by the day or by a light source at night.

Sunday, 7/7/2013 to Saturday, 7/13/2013 - Dirt Cheap #4

I ran 3 times this week, 13.29 miles. 1 was a warmup of 1.55 miles.
I didn't bike this week.

Sunday, 7/7/2013: Rest day

I would have like to get out for a bike but it didn't happen. Just a cuddles and pizza kind of day.

Monday, 7/8/2013: Too hot day.

Tuesday, 7/9/2013: "Shoulda, coulda, woulda" day. Again, a hot day. Christine had other plans so I rolled with it.

Wednesday, 7/10/2013: 2 runs of 1.55 and 4.66 miles, 82F, 70% RH, overcast, sometimes a breeze.

I packed all my gear so I headed down to the Devil's Bathtub area of Mendon Ponds Park for Dirt Cheap #4. Yes, it was hot and humid when I left work ... but I'm a runner and signed up for a race so off I went. I arrived about an hour early so I got a close parking spot about three-quarters up the hill.

Garmin Connect Activity for Warmup before Dirt Cheap #4

I got out for a nice, slow and easy warmup run, 1.55 miles at 9:11 pace. I found out that my right rib still ached and that it indeed was hot and humid. So I set my sights on just finishing the race upright and in one piece.

When I got back the race had already started ... but no worries. This race was held in time trial fashion as we started down the stairs every 5 seconds in reverse alphabetic order. My number was 261 and they were still in the 0-100 runners.

Soon enough it was my turn to head down the stairs. After the stairs I ramped up my pace to what speed I could muster. I slowly passed slower runners and faster runners whizzed me by. Such is the nature of a time trial race. There was mud on the course and soon we found LOTS of mud. I didn't lose a shoe but the mud sure tried!

Coming up Cardiac Hill
I almost twisted my right ankle on a root I didn't see at about the halfway point. I had lapsed into not looked where I was going. I concentrated more on my footing. I ran pretty much the whole course except for some of the major hills. I gave the race what my body allowed and finished the 4.54 mile course in 49:01 at 10:38 pace. Officially, I finished 118th out of 324, link here. I was 3rd out of 11 in my M55-59 age group, 2 seconds away from 2nd.

I was beat after the race. I ate my usual Dirt Cheap chow afterward ... just a couple hot dogs, a piece of watermelon and a banana. I bailed on the post race raffle and went home. I was tired and after a couple of hours and a bath I was in bed by 10:30PM. I think this heat and humidity is getting to me. Maybe I don't get enough sleep.

I saw interesting links in Rocrun, Rochester is a great place for trail running and Woman with Local Roots Places in Top 10 in Western States 100-mile Endurance Run and Why is running easy is so hard.

Thursday, 7/11/2013: Rest day. Christine and I were out of sorts and had a bit of a fight. We did kiss and make up before we went to sleep.

Friday, 7/12/2013: 7.2 miles, 59:46, 8:18 pace, 73F, 57% RH, overcast, calm, no stops.

Garmin Connect Activity for 7.3 miles around the streets of Irondequoit

I knew I needed a run. So I had my usual pre run bowl of cereal, dallied a bit and got out there. My right rib ached when I first started out and I thought about cutting it short. But soon I just got into the run. I concentrated on stretching out and running smooth. It turned into one of those runs where everything just felt good. My right rib still aches when I move sometimes but I got my running endorphins so it's all good.

Saturday, 7/13/2013: Rest day. Christine and I just lazed around. We tried to get to bed around 10PM for the Boilermaker 15K tomorrow ... no such luck.

A sad note: Michael Coyle died yesterday during the mini-Mussel in Geneva link here. He ran into the back of a stalled SUV during the bike portion. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Sunday, 6/30/2013 to Saturday, 7/6/2013 - Sodus Bay Lighthouse 5K

1 ran 2 times this week, 3.64 miles, 1 was a warmup of 0.6 miles
I biked once this week, 15 miles
During the month of June, I ran 21 times 103.35 miles (5 were warmups, 4 were cooldowns), 4.9 miles/run
During the month of June, I biked 4 times, 65.9 miles, 16.5 miles/ride
So far in 2013, I have run 104 times in 181 days, 616.51 miles, 5.9 miles/run

Sunday, 6/30/2013: Injured day.

I went to bed on Saturday night by gingerly laying myself down on my back and hoping that sleep would come. It did. I wore a eye shade since I wanted to sleep past sunrise. I slept pretty well.

When I woke up I could move a bit better. I had twinges of pain when I moved my right side but it wasn't anywhere as bad as during the day on Saturday. So it was just a normal Sunday with just a bit of pain when I moved my right side. Later, Christine and I headed out to BurgerKing and Wegmans for some food and supplies.

Monday, 7/1/2013: Injured day 2.

I tried to get up and go to work but didn't. So I lazed around all day and surfed the web. What a great use of time .. not!

I sneaked a peek at the current Rochester Runner of the Year (RROY) M55-59 standings, link here. I am currently a soild third (32) to Mike Viterise (42) and Bill Beyerbach (41). I have finished the M55-59 runner behind Bill in the last three RROY races. The best 6 races count toward the M55-59 age group award. There are still 6 more RROY races to go this year. The next race is the Sodus Bay Lighthouse 5K on July 4th.

Tuesday, 7/2/2013 and Wednesday, 7/3/2013: Injured days 3 and 4 ... just getting whatever I had to do done, just not running or biking.

Thursday, 7/4/2013: 2 runs of 0.6 and Sodus Bay Lighthouse 5K of 3.14 miles, 79F, 77% RH, overcast, calm

I had gone to bed the previous night at 8:15 PM so I was up at 5:42 AM. The Sodus Bay Lighthouse 5K was slated at 9 AM. I tried to get Christine up but she begged off because she was still tired and her stomach didn't feel good.

Was it a wise idea to head all the way out to Sodus Point to run this race? Well ... I was already signed up, it was a Rochester Runner of the Year (RROY) race and I'm stubborn. So I headed out solo at 7:46 AM. I was soon in the small village of Sodus Point smack dab in the middle of a small town race with lots of people and long lines. The fact that this race was a RROY race brought out more runners than usual so the logistics were a bit strained.

Garmin Connect Activity for Warmup before Lighthouse 5K

I did get out for a short warmup run of 0.6 miles. It was long enough to tell me that I should just run not race this race. My right rib nagged me.

I lined up next to Bill Beyerbach and near Wilt Alston about 20 feet from the start. Soon we were off. I tried to start off hot but I had to back down so both Bill and Wilt were far ahead. I couldn't breathe hard because of my right rib plus it just plain nagged me. So I just concentrated on not stopping and getting the race done. The race itself was an unusual double out and back so I could see the race leaders twice. We all ran through a couple of sprinklers twice which was nice.

Bill Beyerbach on his way to a 20:52.
Wilt Alston on his way to a 21:06.

Cruising mode on ... 23:06
Soon enough the race was done. I did OK for what my body could give me on this day. I finished in 23:06, 96th out of 552, link here. I was 12th out of 49 in my M50-59 age group, link here. Bill finished in 20:52 and Wilt finished in 21:06. Afterward Bill and I went out for breakfast at Captain Jack's. The rain that had held off before the race let loose twice while we were there. All in all, my body did tell me running the Lighthouse 5K wasn't a bright idea. But racing is what I do.

Meanwhile, other runners were running races up in Rochester. The Brighton 5K had 773 runners, link here. The Fairport Firecracker 5 mile race had 943 runners, link here. The Irondequoit 10K had 272 runners, link here. The Irondequoit 2 Mile run had 221 runners, link here.

I headed down to see my father at the Wayne County Nursing Home. I think he enjoyed seeing me in my racing gear. I showed him some pictures from my iPhone and a video of Jenn Suhr clearing 16' 1" on the pole vault. He perked up when I told him that my ex's father had died and asked how old he was. I saw my daughter at her apartment in Newark. She had a bout of bronchitis and was on strict bed rest. In fact she was going to bed after I left.

Friday, 7/5/2013: Vacation day.

I got stuff done: oil change, haircut, getting a replacement Social Security card (don't ask), got a bike bell for Christine at the Bike Zone and took her to New Nails for a manicure and pedicure in OPI's "An Affair in Red Square". Christine thinks that New Nails should be renamed Perfect Nails ... but I reminded her that there is already a Perfect Nails on Monroe Ave.

Saturday: 7/6/2013: bike of 15 miles, 1:11:21: 12.7 mph

A lazy day was had by Christine and I ... while other more hardy types were doing the Finger Lakes Fifties, results of the 50K here.

Garmin Connect Activity for 15 mile bike on both sides of the Genesee River

I did squeeze in a 15 mile ride on my bike on my usual 15 mile route on both sides of the Genesee River with an average speed of 12.7 mph and a maximum speed of 30.2 mph. This time I had to wait 5 minutes at the O'Rorke Bridge for a boat to pass. It seemed that all the traffic in Greece stopped while this drawbridge took its leisurely time to go up and go down. Luckily I had to only wait for it to go down.

I ended up installing the Sony Blu-Ray BDPS185 player that I got off of 1saleaday.com and a bike bell from the Bike Zone on Christine's bike. We watched the last half of the Daytona 400 and I finished my first Kindle book, Zero Day: A Novel by Mark Russinovich. Zero Day was a gripping read about the completely plausible idea that the idea that the world's computers are completely open to attack. I finished it in two nights ... until 3:30 AM on this night.
