I ran 4 times this week, 15.30 miles.
I took 52,897 steps this week according to my Garmin Venu smartwatch.
My Venu gives me steps, heart rate and floors climbed (take that last data point with a grain of salt). My Withings WS-50 Smart Body Analyzer scale gives my weight.
WALKING/RUNNING: I have a swollen right knee. So ... I am doing a lot more walks than runs. A run is better than a walk in my 67-year-old mind but any exercise is good in the end.

Walk/Run electronics: I use my Garmin Venu for runs and walks. I listen to my CelsusSound S800C Bone Conduction Headphones.
BTW, I am on a 1866 day steak (since 6/24/2020 or 5 years, 1 month) of either a walk, run or bike of greater than 1 mile (as of Saturday night, 8/2). There were more than a few days when a mile was all I could walk or limp.

Run: 4.55 miles, 43:18, 9:31 pace, 128/146 avg/max HR, 149 avg cadence, 64F, 77% RH, 7 mph WSW wind, sunny

I tried to push up my mileage from 3.10 to 4.55 by heading out on my "Out by the pier and around" route. I had told my fellow Class of 1975 classmates at the 50th reunion last night that I would. Well ... I did OK for a while but ... I lapsed into a run/walk past mile 2.5. I did enjoy running on the Ontario Beach Park boardwalk though. I just didn't have it in me today. My splits were 9:01, 8:45, 9:34, 11:06 and 8:52 over the last 0.55 mile.

I got out for brisk walk on my usual "Out to Ling Rd" route. The sun was a bit hazy due to the air quality of 152 (unhealthy) according to airnow.gov at zip code 14612. My splits were 13:36 and 12:58 over the last 0.75 mile.

Run: 4.45 miles, 41:20, 9:17 pace, 131/146 avg/max HR, 152/180 avg/max cadence, 63F, 94% RH, calm, cloudy

I just decided that I would up my mileage with another attempt at my "Out by the pier and around" route. This route was my "bread and butter" last year. I ran it A LOT! I haven't been able to do it with any degree of success since my right knee swelled up a few months ago. Well ... I started out OK but had the same trouble with needing run/walks past mile 2.5. A bit frustrating but ... at least I was still out there running ... so ... OK, I guess? My splits were 9:06, 8:53, 9:26, 9:55 and 8:47 over the last 0.45 mile.

Shoes: blue Kuru Atom - 67.11 miles
I got out for a brisk on my usual "Out to Ling Rd" route. What was unusual was the choice of my Kuru Atom shoes. I haven't worn these in a while since I decided that I absolutely hated them for running shoes. So ... I decided to see if I like them for walking shoes. The jury is still out. Anyway ... the walk was OK. My splits were 12:47 and 13:07 over the last 0.85 mile. I added another 0.1 miles since I was lost in thought about how the US would be different if we had elected Joe AND the women in the last 3 presidential elections. I daresay that it would be a LOT different. I am sure that the MAGA would say a lot worse but I believe that they are on the wrong side of history.

8833 steps, 43/142 resting/max HR, 173.2/171.9 pounds, 14 floors climbed
Run: 3.15 miles, 28:43, 9:07, 130/146 avg/max HR, 153/160 avg/max cadence, 68F, 68% RH, 9 mph SW wind, sunny

I got out for a nice 5K on my usual "Out to the Secret Sidewalk" route. I concentrated on a nice and easy with no stops ... and ... I did it! Lake Ontario was like a sheet of glass and quite pretty with the sun shimmering on it. I saw Barry Cherney and a crew of 2 on their bicycles as I came back on Beach Ave. He recognized me and said "Hi Doug". My splits were 9:13, 9:07, 9:04 and 8:43 over the last 0.15 mile. A great way to start a Saturday with a negative split to boot!
Then my darling wife, Christine, and I headed out to OH to the 4th Barn party of her daughter, Beth, and her husband, Nick. Well ... the drive sucked. We ran into 2 traffic slowdowns before we got to Buffalo plus the Bills were having a pre-season game at 1 PM. We started at 10:30 AM, stopped to checked at the hotel in Avon and on to Grafton OH. We had a bit of navigation errors due to Christine's directions being on silent, almost running out of gas and having trouble finding 90 again. We didn't get there until a bit past 5 PM. Still ... the party was OK. I could see some progress from last year. Though I wouldn't want to live there in the dead of winter with 20-foot ceilings and not all of the roof being insulated yet. Christine brought a three-bean salad (that I made sure I had a lot of) that I ate besides the usual picnic fare of hamburgers, salads and some chocolate cake. Mmm!
I was less than impressed initially with the hotel. We had a ground floor room that looked out onto a LIT ALL-NIGHT flagpole with a blackout curtain that wouldn't close. I ended up lying a towel over my head so I could sleep.
